SHORT SELLING PROHIBITED
To anticipate potential volatility in the markets, some measures were put into effect yesterday. Short selling was banned on Borsa Istanbul for a month, and decisions facilitating share buybacks were announced. The order-to-trade ratio (OTR) in the share market was reduced from 5:1 to 3:1 between March 24, 2025, and April 25, 2025 (until the end of the sessions). The threshold crossing fee for the order-to-trade ratio was increased from 0.25 TL to 0.50 TL starting from March 24, 2025. The application aims to narrow down algorithmic trading transactions.
