The Central Bank is set to meet with the management of the Banking Association of Turkey today. Central Bank President Fatih Karahan will meet with the Banking Association of Turkey (BAT) management today. The technical meeting, which is expected to be attended by TCMB Vice President Cevdet Akçay and TCMB officials, is expected to start at 3:00 p.m. today. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek also met with the BAT Board of Directors on a Friday evening. Şimşek stated that significant gains have been achieved thanks to the economic program and emphasized that “all necessary measures will continue to be taken to protect and enhance these gains. We have sufficient tools at our disposal. There is no hesitation in implementing the program. We are working closely with our institutions.” Şimşek also said, “Temporary fluctuations in the markets are closely monitored in coordination with all relevant institutions, and measures to be taken if necessary, in addition to the measures already taken, have been identified, the program will be carried out with determination.” BAT Board Chairman Alpaslan Çakar stated that the sector believes in the program, supports it, and works very closely with the economic administration in communication and coordination.
