Israel continues its attacks on Gaza following the breach of the ceasefire. The Israel Defense Forces issued an “evacuation order” for the forced migration of residents from the north to the south of Gaza. It is reported that ground operations in the south and north of Gaza are also ongoing. Approximately 600 people have lost their lives in the attacks carried out since Tuesday.
Israeli Army Spokesman Avichay Adraee shared a new map on social media regarding the forced migration of Palestinians from the north of Gaza to the south. Adraee requested Palestinians in the northern Gaza neighborhoods of Es-Salatin, El-Kerame, and El-Avde to leave these areas and go to the southern regions.
90% OF PALESTINIANS DISPLACED AT LEAST ONCE
During the attacks that began on October 7, 2023, and continued until the ceasefire on January 19, 2025, the Israeli army had also released maps containing instructions for Palestinians to migrate within Gaza. According to figures shared by the UN, about 90% of the approximately 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza had been displaced at least once due to the attacks by the Israeli army. After the ceasefire on January 19, the Israeli army began intense attacks on the Gaza Strip on the morning of March 18. So far, nearly 600 Palestinians, mostly elderly, women, and children, have lost their lives in the renewed attacks, with about 1000 people injured.
DEFENSE MINISTER: ISRAEL WILL ANNEX GAZA
The Israeli army threatened to annex some areas of the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense Minister Yizrael Katz declared, “I have ordered the army to seize more land in Gaza. As Hamas refuses to release hostages, more land will be lost, and this land will be annexed by Israel.” Katz, who claimed that Israel would permanently occupy the region, indicated that buffer zones around Gaza would also be expanded to protect Israeli civilians and soldiers. Promising to increase military and civilian pressure, Katz said, “We will intensify the fight by expanding the air, sea, and land bombardment alongside the ground operation.” He also stated that President Donald Trump’s plan to force Gazans to migrate was part of this initiative.
DID EGYPT TAKE A STEP BACK IN EXILE?
According to reports in Lebanese media, Egypt is ready to temporarily host half a million civilians to be evacuated from Gaza. It was alleged that a city in the northern Sinai Peninsula would be allocated to Gazans. President Trump had announced the controversial Gaza plan during a press conference in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the beginning of February. The plan included sending Gazans to neighboring Arab countries like Egypt and Jordan and putting the region under the control of the American military. However, in early March, Egypt announced a 53 billion dollar alternative plan that focuses on the reconstruction of Gaza without sending civilians against Trump’s plan.
