In Iran, during the preparations and celebrations known as “Wednesday Eve” held on the last Wednesday of the year according to the Hijri Solar calendar, 19 people lost their lives, and the number of wounded rose to 5,568. Despite the announcement by the police that individuals using explosive materials would be detected with drones during the celebrations, this could not be prevented. It was stated that 6 of the deceased occurred during the preparation of explosive materials in the days leading up to the celebrations. The statement indicated that 338 of the wounded experienced limb loss, and 1,557 suffered eye injuries. It was reported that the highest number of injuries occurred in Tehran, East Azerbaijan, and West Azerbaijan, respectively. In Iran, where the Hijri Solar calendar prevails, on the last Wednesday night before Nowruz, especially children and young people jump over the fires, ignite fireworks, homemade explosives, and firecrackers. Accidents that occur while preparing explosive materials during these celebrations and beforehand result in the deaths of dozens of people and injuries to hundreds every year in the country.
