Zelenski’s Comments on Trump – Putin Meeting: Negotiations Without Ukraine are Ineffective

2 Mins Read

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski made remarks to journalists regarding the phone call held between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During a video conference, Zelenski expressed skepticism about Putin’s stance and was asked whether he thought there would be a 30-day ceasefire on energy infrastructure and his thoughts on the relationship between Trump and Putin. He said, “It’s hard to say. It’s difficult to answer that question regarding the relationship between President Trump and Putin. I believe I will have a meeting with President Trump. We will understand the details. We have always supported no weapons being used against ceasefires and energy infrastructure. We also supported no attacks on sea corridors.”

“These were our suggestions. We will support any proposal that leads to a stable and fair peace,” said Zelenski, adding, “But to do this, we need to understand what we’re talking about, what the details are, and ensure our partners explain these details to us. Because in this war, there are two sides: Russia and Ukraine. Therefore, I believe negotiations held without Ukraine will be ineffective,” he stated.

Emphasizing his eagerness to speak with Trump, Zelenski noted, “President Trump is a busy person. However, when he has time, he can always call me. He has my phone number. We are ready to discuss the next steps.” Zelenski also claimed that Putin intends to launch new aggressive operations in Ukraine’s Zaporijya region and the Sumy and Kharkiv regions near the border with Russia. “Putin wants to conduct a few aggressive operations. He will try to do it. Why? To apply maximum pressure on Ukraine. When will this happen? Believe me, he will try to do it in the next few months,” he said.

Regarding military aid, Zelenski mentioned that Putin is attempting to halt military assistance to Ukraine and expressed hope that military aid will continue. “I believe military assistance will continue. We receive help from both the United States and our European counterparts. We are in constant contact with them. I am sure they will not betray us and the flow of military aid will continue,” Zelenski concluded.
