Investigation of Illegal Gambling: PayFix, Aypara, and Ininal Operations Suspended

The Central Bank has suspended the operating permits of PayFix, Aypara, and Ininal, which were mentioned in the illegal gambling investigation. It had been decided to arrest Erkan Kork, the owner of PayFix, which was established with betting income.

Action has been taken for the three payment institutions mentioned in the illegal gambling investigation. In a statement from the Central Bank, it was stated that the operating permits of PayFix, Aypara, and Ininal have all been suspended. The statement used the phrase, “It has been deemed beneficial to inform the public about the investigations conducted by the judicial authorities regarding the companies including PayFix Electronic Money and Payment Services Inc. (PayFix), Ininal Payment and Electronic Money Services Inc. (Ininal), and Aypara Payment Institution Inc. (Aypara) under the supervision and inspection of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).” Erkan Kork, the owner of PayFix, was arrested.

Within the scope of the investigation, Erkan Kork, the owner of Pozitifbank, PayFix, and Flash TV, along with 21 others, had been arrested. As part of the operation, raids were conducted on 59 suspects, and assets worth 6.9 billion TL were confiscated. Pozitifbank, Flash TV, and PayFix came under state control. According to the prosecution investigation, Erkan Kork entered the finance sector in 2014 with the Troyin Informatics company. He established the payment institution named PayFix with illegal gambling revenues. Using PayFix’s financial infrastructure, the money of illegal gambling barons was laundered. According to MASAK and Central Bank reports, 80,011 different sets of money transfers were identified in the PayFix system, with a total of 211,109 accounts used in these transactions. It was reported that 855 of these accounts were linked to illegal gambling transactions.
