Hizbullah has denounced the airstrikes by the United States and United Kingdom targeting areas controlled by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen. The statement highlighted that civilians were killed and injured in the attacks, emphasizing that Yemen has been targeted due to its support for the Palestinian people.
In a written statement by Hizbullah, attention was drawn to the airstrikes by the US and UK on residential neighborhoods in the Yemeni capital Sana’a and other cities. The statement mentioned that innocent civilians were killed and wounded in these attacks, pointing out that Yemen has been subjected to these attacks for supporting the Palestinian people and pressing for the lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip. The statement underscored that the attacks on Yemen constitute a clear violation of international law, stating, “The US administration reveals its true ugly face by bombing civilian individuals and vital institutions in Yemen. The US administration resorts to terrorism and bullying against the peoples who oppose its arrogant policies in the region and around the world.”
The statement also emphasized that the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, as well as on Lebanon and Syria, are enabled by the support of the US.
WHAT HAPPENED? President Donald Trump announced through his Truth Social platform account that he had given orders for a “major attack” on the Houthis in Yemen. The Iran-backed Houthis stated that 31 people, mostly women and children, were killed and 101 were injured in the airstrikes by the US and UK on the capital Sana’a and the northern city of Sa’dah. On March 7th, the Houthis declared that they gave Israel four days to allow aid to enter Gaza, threatening to resume naval operations against Israel if the demand was not met.
