The Public Auditing Institution has decided to pay assistant doctors for duty shifts exceeding 120 hours at the university hospital. The Public Auditing Institution (PAI) ensured that assistant doctors at Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center are paid for duty shifts exceeding 120 hours. An assistant doctor serving at Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center stated that he had worked more than 120 hours in duty shifts in May and June of 2024, requesting the hospital management to pay the difference but received no response. Subsequently, the doctor who applied to the PAI indicated that the provision of the law stating that duty shifts exceeding 120 hours cannot be compensated was cancelled by the Constitutional Court, and requested the remaining amount to be paid with interest. After evaluating the application, the PAI discussed the matter with the Inonu University Rectorate to meet the request. The Rectorate informed that the assistant doctor’s duty shifts exceeding 120 hours and duty shifts coinciding with official holidays will be calculated and paid accordingly. In the response letter sent to the PAI, the Rectorate stated: “In order to resolve the complaint in a friendly manner, our institution will calculate and pay the increased portion of duty shifts exceeding 120 hours and duty shifts coinciding with religious and official holidays, to the aforementioned specialist student.”
