2 Mins Read

An explosion occurred near a bus in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Reports indicate that 5 individuals on board the bus, which was carrying security officers, lost their lives, while 12 others were injured. According to Dawn newspaper, local police official Zafarullah Sumalani stated that a bombing attack took place in the Naushki region of Balochistan. Sumalani reported that initial findings revealed 5 fatalities and 12 injured individuals were taken to the hospital following the explosion near the bus carrying security officers. A preliminary investigation suggests that the source of the blast may have been a suicide attack. Balochistan Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind condemned the attack in a statement. Additionally, on March 11 in Balochistan, an armed assault on a train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar left 31 fatalities and led to the rescue of 354 hostages. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. Pakistani military sources classified the incident as a “terrorist attack” in statements to journalists. TERRORISM ISSUE IN PAKISTAN Armed assaults in Pakistan are particularly concentrated in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces that share a border with Afghanistan. Armed groups purporting to defend the rights of Pashtun and Baloch ethnic groups carry out attacks against Pakistan security forces and civilians in both provinces. Islamabad alleges that the Pakistan Taliban is based in Afghanistan and orchestrates attacks from there, a claim rejected by the Afghan government.
