Record Seizure of 8.1 Billion Lira at Customs

In the first two months of the year, customs officials seized illicit drugs and commercial goods worth 8.1 billion lira. The Ministry of Trade’s Customs Protection Teams achieved a 63% increase from the previous year in seizing 8.1 billion lira worth of commercial goods and narcotics in the first two months of 2025. According to a statement from the Ministry, operations conducted by the teams led to the confiscation of 6.3 tons of narcotics, 31 tons of tobacco and tobacco products, 400 kilograms of precious metals, and 326 luxury vehicles. A variety of smuggled goods, ranging from live animals to electronic devices and historical artifacts to medical supplies, were also seized.
