Bridge construction collapse in Thailand, 7 workers killed

It has been reported that a highway bridge under construction collapsed in Bangkok. The incident resulted in the death of 7 individuals, with 4 of the 30 injured in critical condition.

In Thailand’s capital Bangkok, on the Rama 2 highway, around 01:48 local time, the concrete beam of the highway bridge under construction collapsed under its heavy weight.

Search and rescue operations initiated by the Thailand Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DDPM) continued until noon.

It was announced that 7 workers on the bridge construction lost their lives in the accident, with 4 in critical condition and 30 injured.

Transport Minister of Thailand, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, expressed his condolences to the families of the Thai and Myanmar workers who lost their lives in the accident.

Minister Suriya stated that after the necessary investigations regarding the accident, the responsible parties will provide the victims with the required compensation.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
