It has been revealed that there were 5 Russian citizens aboard the Solong cargo ship that collided with a US oil tanker in the Arctic Sea.
According to the Russian state news agency TASS, as reported by the Russian embassy in London, the Solong container ship that collided with a stationary US fuel tanker off the northeast coast of England had five Russian citizens on board. The embassy confirmed that the 59-year-old captain, who was arrested by British police on suspicion of manslaughter due to gross negligence, is Russian. The Solong, flying the flag of Portugal, collided with the larger Stena Immaculate tanker carrying jet fuel for the US military on Monday without a clear explanation. One crew member is presumed missing and deceased.
