President Trump has threatened the European Union with a 200% customs duty on all imported alcoholic products. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that if the EU does not remove the 50% customs duty on whiskies produced in the country in the near future, a 200% customs duty will be imposed on all alcoholic products imported from the EU. Trump made a statement on his Truth Social account regarding the 50% customs duty tariff imposed by the EU on whiskies imported from the US. Describing the EU as “the world’s most hostile and exploitative tax authority,” Trump reiterated his view that the EU was established to benefit from the US. Reminding that the EU has decided to impose a 50% customs duty on whiskies produced in the US, Trump used the following words, “If this tariff is not immediately removed, the US will apply a 200% tariff on all wines, champagnes, and alcoholic products coming from France and other EU countries in a short time. This will be great for wine and champagne businesses in the US.”
