Security forces in Syria have thwarted an attempted attack by forces loyal to Assad on a military barracks in rural Latakia. It was announced that the security forces repelled the attack and four attackers were taken into custody.
Syrian security forces reportedly foiled an attack planned by Bashar Assad regime elements in Latakia. According to a report based on a source from the Defense Ministry by the official Syrian news agency SANA, elements of the toppled regime attempted to attack a military barracks in rural Latakia. A clash erupted between the security forces and the assailants. Following the clash, the attack was thwarted, and four attackers were arrested. CIVILIANS ALSO LOST THEIR LIVES
At least 11 security personnel were killed in the attack carried out by elements of the toppled regime in Jabla district of Latakia on March 6. After the attack, Syrian security forces launched a large-scale operation in the area. Hundreds of individuals from both sides lost their lives in fierce clashes, with many civilians also perishing. Syrian President Ahmed Shawr called for the country’s unity and solidarity to be preserved, while warning the security forces about the safety of civilians. The Syrian government had established an investigative committee to identify possible violations by security forces and apprehend those responsible. Officials announced that the security forces’ operations in the coastal region concluded on March 10.
