During his working visit to Ankara, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp discussed the relationship between Turkey and the Netherlands, European security architecture, and regional and global developments.

Veldkamp noted that a new European security architecture is in the process of being built, emphasizing the importance of Turkey having a seat at the table. He stated, “Turkey possesses a capable and experienced major military force and can contribute in this regard.”

Expressing satisfaction with Turkey, a crucial partner for the Netherlands and Europe, Veldkamp mentioned the half a million Turkish-origin people in his country, describing them as almost “half a million bridges” between the two nations. He highlighted that Turks in the Netherlands are well integrated into society and are in good economic standing.

Emphasizing the importance of Turkey and the Netherlands as significant partners in NATO and politically, Veldkamp stressed the necessity for both countries to come together to discuss issues in the context of global events and the future of Europe and the Middle East.
