Export increased in 59 chapters last year

Turkey’s exports increased in 59 out of the 97 chapters listed by the Ministry of Trade compared to the previous year. The highest increase was seen in motor vehicles. Turkey’s exports reached $261 billion 855 million in 2024, up by 2.4% compared to the previous year. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), total exports in the previous year were recorded as $255 billion 627 million. When Turkey’s exports are examined according to the 97 chapters in which products are classified, exports increased in 59 chapters compared to the previous year, while 38 chapters showed a decrease. In recent years, while records have been broken in the history of the Republic in exports, the performance of leading sectors played a significant role in the success achieved. MOTOR VEHICLES BEAR THE BURDEN OF EXPORT Last year, the chapter in which exports increased the most was “motor vehicles, tractors, bicycles, motorcycles, and other land vehicles, their parts, components, and accessories.” An increase of $1 billion 610 million 712 thousand was recorded in the exports of these products. The chapter of motor vehicles was followed by the iron and steel chapter with an increase of $1 billion 323 million 990 thousand. In 54 out of the 59 chapters where exports increased, there was an increase of at least $1 million, with 22 of them exceeding $100 million. In 2 chapters, the increase reached billion-dollar levels. The chapter with the largest decrease in exports during this period compared to the previous year was “unwoven clothing and accessories.” The exports of these products showed a decrease of $652 million 531 thousand compared to the previous year.
