Sean Curran, who came to Trump’s aid during the assassination attempt on July 13, has been appointed as the Director of the US Secret Service. President Trump attended Curran’s swearing-in ceremony at the White House. Curran, who leads the Secret Service Protection Team that rushed to Trump’s aid during the assassination attempt, took over the Secret Service Directorate. Trump, in his speech, emphasized that Curran will do a fantastic job and congratulated him as “a man with a great family, an extraordinary person.” Trump pointed out that Curran has shown himself as a brilliant leader with the ability to manage operational security plans in the most complex events, risking his own life to save the president from an assassin’s bullets in Pennsylvania. He said, “I have full and complete confidence in making the Secret Service stronger than ever.” ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON TRUMP Trump was attacked in Pennsylvania, Butler County, during a rally on July 13, 2024, when he was addressing supporters from the podium, resulting in one person killed and two injured in the rally. The US Secret Service announced that the attacker was neutralized. The FBI defined the attack as an assassination attempt, and after investigations, announced that the individual attempting the attack and killed at the scene was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Following the attempted assassination, the Secret Service faced numerous criticisms for “failure and poor communication.”
