Several military points in the Dera province in southern Syria were targeted by Israeli warplanes in an airstrike. According to information obtained from local sources, Israeli aircraft attacked the 12th Brigade and 89th Regiment in Cebeb and Izra, located in rural Dera province. The attack involved 17 airstrikes targeting military equipment. ISRAELI ATTACKS AND OCCUPATION OF SYRIA After the escalation of conflicts in Syria on November 27, 2024, and the collapse of the 61-year-old Ba’ath regime on December 8, Israeli attacks on the country intensified simultaneously. The Israeli army began destroying the remaining military infrastructure and capabilities of the regime army, expanding its occupation in the Golan Heights of Syrian territory. Entering the buffer zone around the Golan Heights, the Israeli army advanced further, coming as close as 25 kilometers to the capital city of Damascus. Israel has occupied the Golan Heights belonging to Syria since 1967. The Withdrawal of Forces Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974 established the boundaries of the buffer zone and the demilitarized area.
