Export of $8.6 million worth of salmon from the Eastern Black Sea

During the January-February period, a revenue of $8,644,938 was obtained from the Turkish salmon exports made from the Eastern Black Sea. Ismail Kobya, Chairman of the Aquaculture Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, stated that 1234 tons of Turkish salmon were exported from the region in the first 2 months of the year. Kobya emphasized that a profit of $8,644,938 was generated from this export, noting that Turkish salmon was sold to 7 countries during this period. Pointing out that the Russian Federation ranked first in Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea in the January-February period, Kobya continued: “Exports amounting to $7,356,555 were made to the Russian Federation from our region. Belarus followed with $460,147 and Vietnam with $308,254. Additionally, Turkish salmon was also sold to Japan, Canada, Ukraine, and Georgia during this period.” Kobya mentioned that 92% of exports were made from Trabzon, with 1132 tons of Turkish salmon exported from the city to 5 countries during the same period, resulting in a profit of $7,964,820. He also reported that the Russian Federation, Belarus, and Japan were the top 3 countries where Turkish salmon was exported. Kobya highlighted their high expectations for Turkish salmon and stated that they are working diligently to increase Turkish salmon exports.
