2 Mins Read

Critical talks on ending the war with Russia between Ukrainian and US officials will begin today in Saudi Arabia. This will be the first meeting after the Trump-Zelensky controversy at the White House.

US and Ukrainian officials will come together for the first time since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “disaster” White House visit last month. Zelensky announced that he will meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today and his team will stay for a meeting with the American team tomorrow. During the talks in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, US Middle East representative Steve Witkoff stated that Washington aims to “establish a framework for a peace agreement and initial ceasefire.” Zelensky expressed Ukraine’s full commitment to constructive dialogue but emphasized the importance of considering their interests properly. In a speech last night, he said, “We hope to achieve results both in advancing peace and in continuing support.”

RUBIO AND WALTZ TO ATTEND The US State Department announced that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will fly to Jeddah today. US President Donald Trump’s national security advisor Mike Waltz will also attend the meeting. Among Zelensky’s negotiators will be Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Chief of General Staff Andriy Yermak, and military commander and Yermak’s deputy Pavlo Palisa. Zelensky stated that Kiev is in constant communication with the American team.
