The Ministry of Trade imposed administrative fines totaling 455 million TL in the first two months of the year for combating price gouging. According to a statement by the Ministry of Trade, a total of 85,238 individuals and legal entities were inspected in the first two months of 2025. Within these inspections, 17,395 companies were fined a total of 454,350,859 TL. In February alone, 9,606 companies received fines totaling 309,973,559 TL. Inspections for price gouging in automotive, hoarding, real estate, jewelry, and grocery stores resulted in 22,033 individuals and legal entities being inspected in the first two months of the year, with a total of 629 individuals and legal entities fined 154 million TL. Of this administrative fine, 126.7 million TL was imposed as a result of inspections specifically targeting price gouging.
