Trudeau bids tearful farewell: “We will fight if necessary”

2 Mins Read

During the party congress held last night, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bid farewell to his duties once again overwhelmed by tears. In an emotional speech addressing the public, Trudeau stated that Canada is a country that “will fight when necessary.” US President Donald Trump has been mocking Trudeau for months, addressing the prime minister as “Governor Trudeau.”

Delivering his final speech as Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau didn’t miss the chance to throw a few jabs at US President Donald Trump. Trudeau, who had to resign towards the end of 2024, was captured wiping his tears with a handkerchief during the conference organized by his party last night.

TRUMP HAS BEEN RIDICULING HIM FOR MONTHS

US President Donald Trump has been making fun of Trudeau for months, threatening to annex Canada as the 51st state and addressing the prime minister as “Governor Trudeau.” Instead of the 53-year-old leader, his advisor Mark Carney, who won the leadership race of his party, will take over.

“WE WILL FIGHT IF NECESSARY” Trudeau, in his emotional speech, said, “Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud of what we have accomplished in the last 10 years. But tonight, as a party, as a country, it’s about our future.” Highlighting Trump’s threat to impose significant economic tariffs that could cripple the country’s economy, Trudeau said that Canada is a country that “will fight with its elbows up if necessary.” Trudeau emphasized that nothing achieved is accidental or can continue without effort, stating, “It takes courage, sacrifice, hope, and hard work.”

“WE WILL NOT BE A PART OF AMERICA” Carney, in his first speech as the new Prime Minister, accused Trump of trying to control Canada through the use of force and stated, “Americans want our resources, our water, our land, our country. Canada will never be a part of America.” Trump had targeted Canada by calling it the 51st state, which led to trade retaliations. Carney has never held public office, but he has led both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England.
