Particularly struggling to find employees in the IT and construction sectors, the lack of workers is also increasing business closures. A survey conducted in Japan revealed that the full-time staff shortage has reached its peak since the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Kyodo News Agency, credit research firm Teikoku Databank conducted a survey in January with the participation of about 11,000 companies from the private sector. In the survey, where it was determined that 53.4% of companies needed more full-time staff, it was found that this rate had reached its highest level since the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the sectors requiring the most full-time employees, information services and construction stood out, with 30.6% of companies experiencing a shortage of part-time workers. Approximately 68.1% of companies reporting staff shortages were noted to be planning to increase full-time employees’ salaries as of April. The survey found that the number of companies that went bankrupt due to staff shortages reached its highest level in 2024.
