Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine War, Western countries have frozen approximately 300 billion dollars’ worth of Russian assets. Around 200 billion dollars of this amount is held in EU countries. These frozen assets generate billions of dollars in interest income annually. The G7 countries, especially the US, aim to use this income to support Ukraine.
