Due to the arrival of the month of Ramadan, a chain supermarket across Turkey decided to lower the prices of meat products in their branches. The discounts led to heavy customer traffic, resulting in long queues forming at the butcher section of the popular store.

In response to the month of Ramadan, some supermarkets opted for price stabilization for meat products. Following this decision, citizens looking for cheap meat at an updated price chain store led to the formation of long lines.

The price of ground beef, which usually ranges from 500 to 600 TL per kilogram at butchers, was offered for sale at 379 TL. Citizens from surrounding districts flocked to the Haramidere market in search of affordable meat. Customers who waited in line for minutes expressed that the prices were worth the wait. Market manager Uğur Ekiz stated that the Ramadan month generated significant demand in the food sector, indicating a rise in interest for meat and other essential food products during this period. Ekiz mentioned, “The month of Ramadan has arrived with blessings. There is particularly high demand for our butcher section. We have offered discounts in our branches nationwide. We have stabilized the prices of red meat throughout Ramadan. Ground beef is priced at 379 TL, and diced meat at 399 TL. Furthermore, we have applied discounts of up to 50% on all basic food items, especially from oil to tomato paste. We will continue this campaign until the end of Ramadan.”

Ekiz assured that they are making every effort for customers to benefit from the campaign effectively and mentioned that discounts will continue even after Ramadan. Ekiz highlighted the significant demand for red meat products, especially ground beef and diced meat, and emphasized a significant increase in the white meat category. He added, “We make daily meat sales of around 15-20 tons. We struggle to keep up with the demand for meat and often have to wait. Providing our customers with fresh, clean, and reliable products is crucial for us. We prepare our products daily in a hygienic environment, providing quality and halal cutting. Our goal is to share the blessings of Ramadan with our people and to bring them together with these products at affordable prices.”

“I WAITED HALF AN HOUR BUT IT WAS WORTH IT” Ahmet Yapıcı, who waited half an hour in line to buy meat, expressed that the prices were worth it, stating, “The prices here are really good. The meat is of good quality, and we always buy here. Compared to the prices outside, there is a significant difference, especially for some products. I have been in line for half an hour, but it’s worth it,” expressing his satisfaction. Another customer, Melahat Doğru, said, “The prices are very good, and I also bought a kilo of meat. I have been in line for an hour, but it’s worth it. I came here from Avcılar. The products are really high quality, and the prices are very reasonable,” she said.
