‘Gaza Not for Sale’ Protest Targets Trump’s $60 Million Golf Course

2 Mins Read

Activist group Palestine Action targeted US President Trump’s Scottish Turnberry golf course with a message reading “Gaza Not for Sale.” The buildings in the area owned by Trump were also sprayed with red paint.

Donald Trump’s golf course in Scotland became the focus of Palestinian-supporting protesters. Photographs from Turnberry in Scotland show buildings being painted in red. Some of the course’s most prestigious holes were dug at by the protest group Palestine Action, with the words ‘Gaza not for sale’ inscribed in letters 3 meters high on a green area. This reaction came in response to Trump’s proposal to “seize” the Gaza Strip and transform it into a luxurious tourism center known as the “Middle East Riviera.” The Palestine Action group, commenting on social media, wrote, “Trump should know that while trying to treat Gaza as his property, his own property is also within reach.” Trump’s plan has faced global criticism due to concerns that it would forcibly displace Gaza’s population of two million. According to the British Daily Mail newspaper, American critics are wondering whether Trump’s vision could potentially lead the country into a role as a “bloody occupying power.” BOUGHT FOR $60 MILLION Trump purchased Turnberry in 2014 from a Dubai-based company for $60 million, later renaming it “Trump Turnberry” and undergoing extensive renovation work. The US President also has another golf course in Aberdeen’s north, built from scratch on previously protected sand dunes.
