The government in Gaza revealed in their March 8 message that more than 12,000 women have died in Israeli attacks, with around 2,000 left disabled. Hamas, in their statement, drew attention to the double standards of Western countries, including the United States.
The Gaza administration disclosed the number of women killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza. Selame Maruf, Head of the Media Office of the government, reported that due to Israel’s attacks lasting over 15 months, 12,316 women lost their lives. Maruf stated that 2,000 women and girls became “permanently disabled” by losing some of their organs, with 162 women contracting infectious diseases during this period and dozens of women subjected to various tortures in Israeli prisons. Maruf also shared the following information: “13,901 women were widowed. 17,000 mothers lost their children. 50,000 pregnant women lost their babies due to inhumane conditions before giving birth.” Emphasizing that Israel continues the blockade and obstructs humanitarian aid, Maruf highlighted the struggle of women in Gaza living in hunger and thirst.
HAMAS: WESTERN DOUBLE STANDARDS
Hamas, in their statement, said, “The killing of 12,000 women, the injuring and arresting of thousands, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands in Gaza is a stain on humanity.” Hamas stated that Palestinian female prisoners are subjected to psychological and physical torture in clear violation of all international norms and agreements. They added that the suffering of Palestinian female prisoners exposes the “double standards” of Western countries, including the United States, directed at Palestinians.
