North Korea, under Kim Jong Un’s command, has released the first photos of a nuclear-powered submarine. During a visit to the production facility of the submarine named Hero Kim On Ok, the North Korean leader stated, “We will never turn a blind eye to the threatening activities of enemies at sea and underwater.” Here are the initial photos of the nuclear submarine…Kim Jong-Un, the leader of North Korea, inspected a shipyard where ships and submarines are produced.
Kim received information from authorities about the construction process of the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. Addressing the challenging security environment in the seas surrounding North Korea, Kim Jong Un emphasized, “Maritime sovereignty is a crucial part of national sovereignty. Developing naval forces in line with the times and equipping them with nuclear weapons is of great importance for our national defense strategy.”
Pyongyang also shared the photos of the nuclear-powered submarine with the public for the first time. Underscoring that a strong naval force with high deterrent capabilities could safeguard the country’s sovereignty, the North Korean leader stated, “We will never tolerate the threatening activities of enemies underwater and at sea, who continue to deploy massive strategic assets in the region.”
Kim expressed plans to further enhance his country’s naval power to ensure security on the Korean Peninsula and its surroundings. North Korea had announced the completion of a nuclear missile-launching submarine production in 2023.
Experts have pointed out that the submarine named “Hero Kim Kun Ok” does not utilize nuclear energy, casting doubt on its functionality. However, Kim has instructed the production of more submarines, including those powered by nuclear energy. Allegations of North Korea developing nuclear submarines have surfaced since that time.
While North Korea had revealed Kim’s inspection of the production process of a nuclear-powered submarine in January last year, no photos or evidence had been presented. With the recent development, the Pyongyang regime has finally shared the photos of the ballistic missile submarine powered by nuclear energy with the public for the first time.
