A man in the United States was arrested on suspicion of stealing Legos worth a total of 25 thousand dollars (approximately 900 thousand Turkish Liras) from stores. The suspect, who was determined to have committed theft using the same method, could face a prison sentence of up to 9 years and 4 months. Authorities revealed that the suspect, 32-year-old Michael Ivory Fletcher, is accused of stealing Lego sets from two branches of a chain store in Walnut Creek and San Ramon between August 15, 2024, and February 15, 2025. According to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office, Fletcher faces charges of commercial burglary and grand theft. Fletcher allegedly entered stores alone each time, swiftly taking out a shopping cart filled with Lego products using the same method.
It was discovered that Fletcher loaded the stolen items into a car parked in a disabled parking spot. He is believed to have carried out this method at least seven times. Authorities suspect that Fletcher committed theft not only in Contra Costa County but also in several other regions, including Solano, Alameda, San Joaquin, Sonoma, and Santa Clara. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office filed additional charges stating that Fletcher stole ‘Star Wars’ themed Lego sets worth $1,881 from a chain store in Fremont. Fletcher was apprehended at another branch of the same chain store in Walnut Creek and sent to the Martinez Detention Facility. The suspect, who is detained on a $500,000 bail, could receive a sentence of up to 9 years and 4 months in prison for all charges against him.
