U.S. Ban on Sharing Intelligence with UK: Ukraine to be Excluded

2 Mins Read

Reports suggest that the U.S. government has prohibited the sharing of American intelligence with the UK regarding Ukraine. All intelligence agencies and military organizations in the UK have received a clear order banning the sharing of intelligence seized by the U.S. This situation is expected to seriously impact Kiev’s ability to defend itself against Russian attacks.

According to the British Daily Mail, Washington has banned the UK from sharing American intelligence with Ukraine. President Donald Trump’s decision to freeze American military aid to Kiev has raised concerns that Ukraine could be left unarmed in a short period of two to three months.

ORDER CLEARLY PROHIBITING SHARING OF INTELLIGENCE In addition to missiles and ammunition, all intelligence agencies and military organizations in the UK have received an order clearly prohibiting the sharing of intelligence seized by the U.S. Since the beginning of the war three years ago, countries like the UK, Australia, and New Zealand had shared intelligence information with Ukraine.

“UKRAINE TO BE PUBLISHED” PHRASE REMOVED According to the Daily Mail, the U.S. government has removed the highest level of security classification until the next announcement. Orders removing the ‘Rel UKR’ (short for “Publishable to Ukraine”) phrase have been issued to organizations. It is expected that this will significantly affect Kiev’s ability to defend itself against Russia’s attacks.

“U.S. WILL CONTROL STRICTLY” British military intelligence expert Phil Ingram stated to the Daily Mail, “It wasn’t surprising to receive instructions from the U.S. halting the sharing of American intelligence with Ukraine through its allies. The U.S. will strictly control the distribution of its intelligence to Ukraine through agencies in Kiev.” This move deepens the disagreement between the two allies following confirmation that the U.S. halted its military aid to Kiev.

ZELENSKY HAD EXTENDED AN OLIVE BRANCH Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had extended an olive branch to his American counterpart Donald Trump following the major controversy in the White House. A high-ranking Ukrainian official informed the Financial Times that before ammunition runs out, there are only two or three months left, after which the situation will become very difficult. The Ukrainian official stated, “There won’t be a total collapse, but we’ll have to withdraw from some areas more quickly.”
