It was reported that the process of removing the bodies of over 2,000 Iraqis thrown into the Hasfa Pit by the terrorist organization ISIS between 2014-2017 will begin in the southern city of Mosul in Iraq. The massacres, described as the most brutal acts in modern Iraqi history, reportedly saw hundreds of innocent people killed and thrown into the pit on a single day. Visiting the Hasfa Pit approximately 20 kilometers south of Mosul, Governor of Mosul Abdulkadir al-Dahil made a statement there. Dahil stated that the process of removing the bodies of over 2,000 Mosul residents thrown by ISIS into the pit will soon commence. The Governor of Mosul expressed that they will take this step for those who have been unable to obtain any information about the fate of their children and loved ones for years. Dahil mentioned that hundreds of innocent Mosul residents were thrown into the pit by the terrorists, reminding that the most brutal act in modern Iraqi history was carried out there. Noting that the pit turned into a mass grave in 2016, Dahil stated that 2,080 bodies were thrown here in a single day. Dahil also mentioned that even members of the Iraqi security forces were thrown into the pit by the terrorist organization, stating, “According to eyewitnesses, ISIS, when in control of the city, would bring hundreds of innocent people here in a single day, kill them, and throw them into the pit.”
