8.4 million vehicles travelled on highways during the holiday

During the Ramadan holiday, a total of 8,425,491 vehicles passed through the highways. The number of passengers at Istanbul Airport increased from 842,367 to 892,810 during these dates. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared the travel data by road during the Ramadan holiday period. In a written statement, Minister Uraloğlu noted that a total of 8,425,491 vehicles passed through the highways from March 29 to April 1, including the day of Arefe. According to the data, the number of passengers at Istanbul Airport during the 2024 Ramadan holiday increased to 892,810 this year from 842,367. On the day of Arefe and during the Ramadan holiday, toll roads under the General Directorate of Highways, as well as the Fatih Sultan Mehmet and 15 July Martyrs Bridges, provided free services by the Presidential Decree. During this period, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge was used by 1,025,593 vehicles. The 15 July Martyrs Bridge had a total of 810,676 vehicle passes. This year, a total of 1,396,404 vehicles used the Northern Marmara Highway, compared to 1,207,436 vehicles the previous year. From March 29 to April 1, 2025, there were 50,582 vehicle passages on the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and 303,569 vehicle passages on the Osmangazi Bridge. Marmaray transported 77,167 more passengers compared to the 2024 Ramadan holiday, with a total of 2,156,902 passengers. Between March 26 and April 1, intercity bus companies carried 2,418,407 passengers in 70,627 trips.
