Amanda Lewis, who was tried for the murder of her daughter Adrianna Hutto in 2007, was sentenced to life imprisonment following her 7-year-old son’s confession.
Living in Esto, Florida, Amanda Lewis claimed in her testimony that she found her daughter Adrianna face down in the pool and immediately called 911. Despite being airlifted to the hospital, the unfortunate child could not be saved. However, the words of Adrianna Hutto’s stepbrother AJ, “My mom put my sister in the water,” changed the course of the incident. Amanda Lewis was accused of the murder a month after her daughter’s death and brought to court. During the trial, AJ, who was seven years old at the time, testified against his mother. Saying “My mom killed my sister,” AJ visualized his account with a stick figure drawing. Amanda Lewis’s lawyers argued that the young child was being manipulated by the prosecution team and that his answers were inconsistent. Amanda Lewis was sentenced to life imprisonment in February 2008. However, in an interview she gave in 2016, she denied the allegations. Following the horrifying incident, AJ, who was adopted by another family, had his name changed and disappeared. Years later, speaking to Daily Mail, AJ Hutton said, “No one manipulated me. I recounted what I saw word for word.” Now 24 years old, AJ stated that he has not seen Amanda Lewis since the trial and refuses to call her “mom.”
