5,000 Lira Birth Assistance for Mothers

2 Mins Read

A birth assistance of 5,000 TL will be provided for children born this year and thereafter, for a period of 60 months.

The birth assistance, valid for children born under the 2025 Year of the Family, aims to increase the declining youth population rate in Turkey.

For the first child, a one-time payment of 5,000 TL will be given. For the second child, starting from the month of application until the child reaches the age of 5 (including the sixtieth month), a monthly payment of 1,500 TL will be made. For the third child and subsequent ones, starting from the month of application until the child reaches the age of 5 (including the sixtieth month), a monthly payment of 5,000 TL will be provided.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will have the authority to increase the amounts. Payments will be made from the Solidarity and Support Fund for Social Assistance. The birth assistance will be paid without being subject to any taxes or deductions, and it cannot be seized. In case of unwarranted payments due to false statements by the beneficiaries, the amounts will be returned with interest calculated at the delay penalty rate specified in Article 51 of Law No. 6183, taking into account the time elapsed from the date of payment to the date of collection, and the institution that made the unwarranted payment will notify the unjustly benefited individual in writing. If the payment is not made within this period, these debts will be reported to the relevant tax office for pursuit and collection in accordance with the provisions of the said law.

HOW TO APPLY FOR BIRTH ASSISTANCE? The application for Birth Assistance is made in person, by registered mail with return receipt, or by cargo after the registration process of the child in the Identity Sharing System (KPS) at the relevant civil registry office following the birth. The “Birth Assistance Application Form” must be filled out completely and signed, and then submitted to the Family and Social Services Provincial Directorates or Social Services Centers. Employees of public institutions and organizations, regardless of their status (including those employed through service procurement), apply to the institution where they work. Applications from those living abroad are received by Embassies and Consulates. If they are in Turkey, they can apply to any Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate or Social Services Center.
