36 thousand young people to receive free train tickets from the EU

The European Union will provide free train tickets for 36 thousand young people to travel around Europe. The European Commission, among which Turkey is also included, will distribute 36 thousand free travel passes for young people aged 18 residing in countries associated with the Erasmus+ program to travel by train to European countries. In a written statement issued by the EU Commission, it was announced that young people would be provided with 36 thousand travel cards under the program named “DiscoverEU” to explore the EU. The statement mentioned that applications started today and successful applicants would be able to travel by train across Europe for 30 days between July 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026. The requirement to be born between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, and to reside in countries associated with the Erasmus+ program such as EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey was stated in the announcement, which also noted that applications would close on April 16, at 13.00 CET. The EU’s grant program called Erasmus+, which covers education, youth, and sports sectors and has been implemented from 2021 to 2027, had already provided more than 355 thousand travel cards through the “DiscoverEU” initiative launched in 2018.
