200 million lira penalty in inspections for excessive prices

The Ministry of Trade announced that 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 individuals in the inspections conducted for excessive price increases during Ramadan.

The Ministry of Trade initiated inspections before the Ramadan holiday.

According to the statement from the Ministry, during the month of Ramadan, 46,474 companies were inspected through the Trade Provincial Directorates located in 81 provinces. As a result of non-compliance identified in 9,525 companies and 46,507 products, 134.6 million lira in administrative fines were imposed.

The statement included the following information:

“Including the month of Ramadan, in March, 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 real and legal persons, and in the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 655.2 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 27,321 real and legal persons. In the inspections carried out by the Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces, in March, 134.6 million lira in administrative fines were imposed, and a total of 296.4 million lira in administrative fines were imposed in the first 3 months of 2025.”
