Hong Kong Airlines stated that an emergency landing was made due to a fire that occurred on a plane departing from China.
A fire broke out on a flight from the city of Hangzhou in China to Hong Kong.
The aircraft, with the flight number ‘HX115’ operated by Hong Kong Airlines, made an emergency landing in Fuzhou last Thursday due to a fire in the cabin.
The fire was brought under control by the swift intervention of the crew.
In a statement by the airline, it was mentioned that “the Hong Kong Airlines ‘HX115’ flight, traveling from Hangzhou to Hong Kong, was redirected to Fuzhou Changle International Airport (FOC) and landed safely due to the fire that broke out on the overhead cabin shelf. The fire was successfully extinguished.” Footage shared by Hong Kong television showed passengers and cabin crew using water bottles to put out the fire. Airline officials reported that the 168 passengers on board did not experience any issues, and a preliminary report suggested that the fire may have originated from a portable charger in a passenger’s bag.
