Hakoishi Shitsui, a 108-year-old resident of Japan, has entered the Guinness World Records as the ‘world’s oldest working female barber’. Working in the Tochigi prefecture of Japan, Hakoishi Shitsui, at 108 years old, has earned the title of ‘world’s oldest working female barber’. In a statement released by the Guinness World Records, it was mentioned that “Hakoishi Shitsui, at 108 years old, is still cutting hair”. Born in the Nakagawa area of Tochigi in 1912, Hakoishi started her apprenticeship at a hair salon in Tokyo at the age of 14. The barber shop she opened with her husband was destroyed during World War II. Receiving her Guinness World Records certificate in a ceremony attended by neighbors and customers, Hakoishi expressed in her speech, “People come from afar to see me, so I want to continue my profession to the best of my ability”.
